An evening with EPIS

Blogging from a showcase event of Epis – an Edinburgh University incubator for startups. Lots of interesting projects here, with a disproportionate number having to do with repelling midges. Contact fishing for ThinkTank, of course…

Addendum: I predict that blootagging will replace the word ‘dating’ in the very near future, in the same way that ‘googling’ has replaced ‘searching’.

Curious. What do you know about the last name Rajaneimi? My friend has that last name and I’m wondering what it’s meaning or origin is.

Well, “niemi” means cape and “raja” means “border”, so it’s a geographical term: a cape that is also the border of something. My great-grandparents settled on a farm called Rajaniemi and aquired the name by association: it’s not an uncommon name in Finland. My mother’s family also has a branch called Rajaniemi which is completely unrelated to my father’s family…

Not yet, although we did get a nice testimony from Motorola… starting serious pitchin’ soon, and there were some interested people at the EPIS thing. We’ll let you know when we’re hiring. :-)
