Darren spotted this before I did, but the Serenity trailer is now online and it looks amazing!
Serenity is the feature-length film version of the utterly brilliant TV show Firefly by Buffy’s creator Joss Whedon. Firefly was one of the best pieces of SF drama on TV until it was canceled by Fox after only 11 episodes. It combined Western archetypes with space opera, taking the genre back to its roots, in a sense; after all, the original pitch for Star Trek was “Wagon Train to the Stars”. I could easily whip myself into geeky fury about Fox’s sheer idiocy here and rant, but for now I’d just rather be excited about the movie.
September 30th. Day before my PhD submission date. It must be an omen.
